First Dr. Visit

Obviously, the above picture is of the twins at their 2 week appointment with the Dr. I could not take a picture of Georgina on her first Dr. visit because somebody took the camera out of my purse - even though he denies it! Soo, just imagine Georgie in the same room.

At our 2 weeks appointment with Dr. Boardman - all was well. Little Georgie weighed in at 7 pounds 2 oz she gained one pound since her release from the hospital (at birth, she weighed 6lbs 6.1 oz but left the hospital at 6lbs 2 oz).

Other Stats:

Height 19 - 3rd percentile

Weight 7lbs 2 oz - 5th percentile

Head - 14 - 10th percentile

She is so tiny!

Dr. B said that she was doing well - and that she did not have thrust. I feared that she had thrust due to the fact that she had a white covering over her tongue and also because she is such a poor little nurser (lactation consultant called her a 'lazy nurser' BUT I do not believe my child is lazy). According to Dr. B, the white covering over the tongue was milk residue.

I was glad to hear that all was going well with the little one. Gisella and Giuliana, on the other hand, came with Michael and me to the Dr. visit - we wanted them to get checked out since they both have been congested for quite some time. Both of the girls have ear infections - YIKES poor babies.

Home Sweet Home

Going home with our new baby girl -
Here she is - outside our front door - finally home.

What great sisters!

The girls' first meeting with Georgina at the hospital. They kept pointing at Georgina and saying "baby".

Labor Day '09

Here she is - little Georgie!
This is me after the epidural - finally relief - after such a hard day!
Before the epidural - taking deep breaths.

On the afternoon of Saturday, September 5th, we all went to Mimi's house for dinner. We grilled steaks and corn on the cob - the girls ran all over the house and made a huge mess dragging toys everywhere.

When we got home, Michael bathed the girls, we read to them and then bedtime. MG and I were going to watch t.v but Michael decided to go to bed early - claimed he was not feeling well. I stayed up to watch my recording of Project Runway. At about 10ish, I decided to turn in also and went to bed.

At 10:30, I started to feel a little different. Throughout the pregnancy, I had contractions at night. Usually they were not painful and did not last for very long. These seemed to keep coming back and, although they were not painful, they were definitely uncomfortable. At about 11ish, I decided to give up trying to sleep and walk around to see if they would go away. They did not - in fact, they seemed to be getting stronger and they were coming at about every 8 minutes.

My doctor had told me to count contractions and call the hospital if I had more than 6 in one hour. So, I stayed up to count and in the meantime, watched SATC reruns.

At about 2:00 a.m., MG came in the room and asked what I was doing. I told him about the contractions and he told me to call the hospital. Once I called the hospital, the on-call Dr. told me to come in - that I could be in labor and needed to be monitored.

Well, I did not think that I was in labor - I attributed the contractions to "false labor" pains. Besides, who was going to take me to the hospital? I did not want to have to ask someone to come and stay with the girls in the middle of the night, only to be turned away by the hospital. MG and I decided that I would drive myself to the hospital and if it was anything, then we would call someone to stay with the girls.

By this time, my contractions were definitely more painful. So, I drove myself to the hospital and checked myself in. After being monitored and checked, I was told that I was not in labor OR that I could be in the very early stages of labor. I was also given some fluids since I could be dehydrated. Either way, I was being released from the hospital - told to go home and walk around and drink water.

So, I drove home - with contractions - still painful. Once I got home, I called my mother and told her what was going on - I also asked her to come and pick up the girls. I was functioning on no sleep and MG was still not feeling well.

Throughout the day, I was still having the contractions - I called the hospital and again the Dr. told me to lie on my side, drink water and call when the contractions were 5 minutes apart.

My contractions were never 5 minutes apart - at least not when I measured them at home. At 10:00 at night, I could not take the pain anymore and MG and I drove to the hospital. At the hospital, they told me that the contractions were 3-4 minutes apart and that I was 5cm dilated - which meant - baby was coming!

I was given an epidural for the pain - YEAH! and I got to see Mimi, Grandpapi, and Nonna before I got wheeled away into the OR. Baby Georgina arrived at 12:59 a.m. weighing in at 6 lbs 6.1 oz. with a head full of dark black hair.

The Final Countdown!

I can't believe it - only six days before baby G's arrival. My C-Section is scheduled for September 10th. In some ways this pregnancy has gone by rather quickly - and in others - it has been way too long - at least during the summer.

For the past few weeks (months) I have been trying to get ready for the baby's arrival. It has been rather easy - I have just about everything that I need for her - I needed only to wash clothes, reorganize closets, make room inside drawers, replace batteries on bouncies etc., wash and sterilize bottles and assemble a bassinet. There are a couple of things that I still need to get - but nothing that is urgent.

I have also been trying to get the twins ready for school . . . oops, I mean MDO!

The twins are starting the same week that I am due. My poor babies - they will have two lifechanging events happen in the same week. The girls will be going to MDO two times a week from 9-2 (or until Giuliana decides it is time to come home). There is so much to do just with them starting school - for school, they need nap mats, plastic lunch containers, closed toe shoes with rubber soles, blah, blah, blah. I hope that I am done with it all! I needed to get it all done before next week - afer that - who knows when I will be able to do anything at all.

Although a newborn is such a challenge, I am so looking forward to meeting the little one. I can't imagine what she will be like - the twins are so completely opposite one another. She will be her own person - my little G. Can't wait to meet you!
